Welcome to Ongoing Support
Hello and welcome! This is our home page which will give you an outline of Ongoing Support and what we do. We hope that you enjoy our site which we think is quite simple and easy to use (no flash here). As we believe that humour is an essential part of life, we have used cartoons to depict the 'lighter-side of life', and we do hope that you enjoy them (www.iclipart.com).
Our aim is to offer support with no time limits. So what does this mean? Well we like to share our knowledge and skills with any individual coming to us for support. By sharing theories, ways to change old patterns of behaviour, and ways to take care of the self, then even when Ongoing Support is no longer needed by the individual, he or she will support themselves (and be their own therapist) throughout the rest of their life. We are in fact aiming to do ourselves out of a job!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
It really is like a carpenter learning how to pick out and use the right chisel for the job, or the plumber knowing which joint to tap and which nut to tighten - once you learn about yourself (the nice and not-so-nice bits), let go of some of the baggage you have been carrying around with you, learn how to solve daily problems that crop up (yes - you will still encounter them), and learn how to respect, love and take care of yourself - then these really are skills for life that you will never 'un -learn'.
Ongoing Support is a community based not-for-profit organisation based in Cornwall. it was set up in 2002 and our aim is to offer support to any individual, regardless of their circumstances.
We offer many different services to:
In the form of:
The issue list would be pretty endless as it is the person behind the issue that is most important and what we will work with. However, just to give you an idea of some of the issues we have dealt with in the past:
All of the support and therapy we offer is very personal and individually based, in other words, it's tailored around each individual and their needs. We think that this is really important, as no two people are alike.
We offer our services to any individual, couple, family or group living/working in Cornwall, and where possible we offer these services for a very low cost, depending on the individuals circumstances and the funding we receive.
In all cases the first meeting with us will be completely free of charge. This first meeting is a good opportunity for everybody to meet each other and decide 'where to go' from there!

The service has been set up and is being run by Dena Marshall and Mark Bottrill. We are partners in both life and work, and have been practicing psychotherapy for over 8 years.
In 2001 we both finished our advanced integrative psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis, and we have been practicing under supervision and the guidelines of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITA). In 2005 we both trained in Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) and became certified NLP practitioners. Mark has a teaching qualification and a certificate in advice and information (level 3). Dena is currently working towards a teaching qualification and also a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) diploma.
We both have lots of experience in working with adults and children, individually, within groups, and within a residential setting, covering a wide range of issues, including past and present physical, sexual and mental abuse, mental health issues, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Tourette's Syndrome, physical disability, phobias, mood disorders and depression, eating disorders and personality disorders.
We both believe that psychotherapy, counselling and specialised educational support should be accessible to everybody - and obtainable regardless of their circumstances.
We have made a point of not working ordinary hours, so you can contact us evenings and weekends as well as during the day. Contact us anytime between the hours of 8am and 10pm using the details at the bottom of the page.
